How to Make Homemade Avocado Oil
If you have some avocados at home, you don’t have to worry about finding a substitute oil. You can make avocado oil right from home and with ease.
There are three ways to make avocado oil: cooking, pressing, or sieving. The easiest option is cooking the oils out of the avocado peels.
- Peel your avocados (about a dozen), and cut them in half
- Scoop the fruit out of the peels and place them in a blender. (Leave the pits and skin out)
- Set your blender to the puree option and mix it until it becomes a smooth paste.
- Put the paste into a medium pot and cook them on medium heat, stirring every 5 minutes.
- As the mix starts to boil, the oil will rise to the top. Continue to boil until the avocado turns dark green and the water is gone.
- Remove the mixture from the heat and put it into a bowl. Then place a cheesecloth over the bowl flipping it upside down until the mixture is inside the cloth.
- Squeeze the cloth full of avocado mush, allowing the oil to pour from the material into a bottle. Now, you can use the oil or store it away for later.
